![]() What is Income Protection Insurance? Income Protection - previously known as "Permanent Health Insurance" provides an income should you be incapacitated and prevented from working because of serious, long term sickness or injury. Why might you need such insurance? By obtaining such cover you can provide yourself with an income if you are unable to continue working through illness or injury. Usually the maximum amount you can cover can be up to 65% of your salary and the payments are tax free if you pay the premiums for the cover yourself. Critical Illness Cover This cover provides a lump sum payable in the event of the life insured being diagnosed as suffering from one of a range of critical illnesses, as defined in the policy wording. Private Medical Expenses The NHS can provide an unrivalled service in many areas such as maternity or for those in serious ill health. However, for many non urgent conditions the NHS remains under strain and having your own Private Medical Expenses cover may enable you to be treated by a specialist at a hospital of your choice at a time to suit you rather than facing a lengthy wait. |
